Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Covenant Series # 3.5

13605727

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

Oh, Aiden! I have always been a fan of Aiden. He was always there for Alex (even if it was only in the background). They are so perfect for each other, and after reading Deity I could not wait to get my hands on this novella. In Elixir we get to see the fierce, protective, loving side of Aiden. I seriously don't think there is anything I loved more than this story in Aiden's POV. He is dealing with a lot since the end of the last book (I'm trying to stay spoiler free), and his emotions are pretty tense throughout this story. He's not afraid to punch anyone in the face that doesn't have Alex's well-being in mind, not even Apollo. He is extremely loyal and in love.

I also enjoyed meeting a few more gods and goddesses. We met Apollo in Deity, and now we met Dionysus (picture a laid-back, college aged god that likes to drink and party; seriously I hope we see more of Dionysus). The gods are preparing for war against Lucien and Seth, and Alex may be the only way to prevent it.

Aiden is going to protect her no matter what, and his faith and hope in their love for each other is breathtaking. If you are a fan of The Covenant Series you do not want to miss this novella. It sets up a great entry into Apollyon and will leave you even more anxious to get your hands on book four than Deity (which I thought was impossible to do).

My rating: 5 Lotus Flowers….. because you won’t want this book to end!

The Mayfair Moon
& Kindred
by J.A. Redmerski
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Darkwoods Trilogy is definitely not your normal werewolf story. I love that there is so much going against Adria in these stories. Her mother continues to stay in an abusive relationship, and her sister betrays her, but Adria is a strong female protagonist. Her relationship with Isaac is awesome! I love these two. She has some great friends to help her out. Harry, and Daisy are my favorites. Adria really transforms throughout the books. She's not the typical whiny, dependent female lead. She's pretty tough. The story is engrossing. I don't want to give too much away, but you won't want to put any of these books down, especially the second one. I love this trilogy and can't wait to read the final book. Thankfully, we don't have to wait long!

Tempting the Player (Gamble Brothers, #2)Tempting the Player by J. Lynn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From Goodreads: Chad Gamble, all-star pitcher for the Nationals, is one of the best players on—and off—the field. And right now, the notorious bad boy wants Bridget Rodgers. But with her lush curves and snappy comebacks, the feisty redhead is the kind of woman a man wants to settle down with…and that’s the last thing Chad needs.

When the paparazzi catch them in a compromising position, Chad’s manager issues an ultimatum: clean up his act or kiss his multi-million dollar contract goodbye. To save his career, his meddling publicist says he'll have to convince everyone Bridget isn’t just his flavor of the week, but his girlfriend.

Being blackmailed into a fake relationship with Chad Gamble isn’t easy, especially when the sizzling physical attraction between them is undeniable. With a month to go on their arranged pretense, it's going to take every ounce of willpower they have not to fall into bed together...or in love.

I love, love, love the Gamble brothers! This book was just as much fun as the first one. This is Chad and Bridget's story. We meet them in Tempting the Best Man. I loved Bridget. She's quirky, and imperfect and that is the reason Chad is so attracted to her. This story had me laughing out loud! The characters are tons of fun. Two down, one Gamble brother to go. I look forward to reading Chandler's story!!

Marked (Eternal Guardians, #1)Marked by Elisabeth Naughton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From Goodreads: THERON – Dark haired, duty bound and deceptively deadly. He’s the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld.

From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn’t exist in real life—silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.

She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron’s duty to bring her in. But even as a 200-year-old descendent of Hercules, he wasn’t strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.

As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

A book about the Argonauts...what's not to love? This book was fantastic. Theron is seriously hot! I loved the mythology, and the characters that the author used. Atalanta is the bad-guy (girl) in the story, and she seriously has it out for Casey. But that's okay, because Theron is there for her! There are plenty of unexpected twist that made this an interesting, fun, unique story! I can't wait to read more!

Deity (Covenant, #3)Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From Goodreads: Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

Once again Jennifer L. Armentrout has written a phenomenal book! This book was beyond awesome! Alex has some serious things to deal with. She's not sure how she feels about Seth or Aiden. I love Aiden so I was estatic when things finally started to heat up between the two. I always knew there was a reason I immediately didn't like Seth. We get answers in this book that only make you want to ask more questions. The writing is great, the mythology is intriguing, and the characters are fantastic. THE ENDING... OMG!!!! Seriously, how long do we have to wait for the next book! I am on pins and needles... I need it now! At least we get Elixir, Aiden's POV to help tide us over! Well done JLA!!

CursedCursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

From Goodreads: Dying sucks-- and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he's a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she's more than interested. There's just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out.

However, she's willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't? But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not have been an accident at all, she's not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

I am huge fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout. I am addicted to both her Covenant and Lux series'. I enjoyed Cursed but it wasn't as good as her other books. I had a hard time getting into the story at first. The characters were interesting but could get confusing at times. I will still read whatever JLA writes, but this fell a litte flat compared to the rest of her works.
