From the cover: Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies—the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the Prodigium. Or at least that’s what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn’t as confident.
Sophie’s bound for one hell of a ride—can she get her powers back before it’s too late?
Rachel Hawkins' final book in the Hex Hall series was great! The story picks up right after the events of the second book. Sophie is alone and confused about who surived what happened at the end of book two. She meets up with her mom, who has quite the suprise for Sophie. When Sophie learns that there may be a war she has her friends help her prevent it. They will have to travel to the Underworld, and there are some heartbreaking sacrifices that will be made. This was a fantastic ending to the series. The story was entertaining, as always the characters were great. My biggest problem with the story was the underworld. Hawkins did not do justice to Virgil and Dante with her version of the underworld. It was too simple to get in an out, with hardly any obstacles. Other than that I enjoyed the book and hope to read more by this author.
